Who the hell are you?

My name is Rickard Langnesund, born in the north (but raised in the south) of Sweden in 1979, and I have been playing for about 20 years in various settings and collaborations. I have a particular soft spot for funk and all things groovy. I have, however, played with metal bands, fusion outfits and many other groups with a flair for funk/rock/blues/groove.

I constantly strive to improve my musicianship, which is why I'm very fond of practicing and exploring the rhythmic universe. As of late I try to delve even deeper in metric modulation, displacement, odd groupings and so forth. Needless to say, this isn't worth a dime if you can't apply it to a live playing situation - but that is the fun of it all. I could go on and on about the do's and don'ts regarding my playing philosophy - but I'll leave that for another site.

Influences include, but are not limited to:

Tower of Power, Rush, Weather Report, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, King Crimson, Frank Zappa, Soundgarden, James Brown, Sly Stone, Dave Matthews Band, Dave Weckl, Mike Stern, John Scofield, Dream Theater, Kansas, Vital Information, Tribal Tech, Chich Corea, Average White Band, RHCP, Earth, Wind & Fire, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Jamiroquai etc…
